Corporal Draughn was on his second deployment in May 2009 when an IED blast in Helmand Province, Afghanistan caused the traumatic amputations of both of his legs as well as the amputations of two fingers on his right hand. This new home, which goes beyond ADA compliance, features open floor plans, automatic door openers, hard-surfaced floors, roll-in showers, roll-under cooktops, sinks, and more, and will allow him to live his life more independently.
"The Key Ceremony for Larry Draughn is an opportunity for us to show our appreciation for all he and his family have sacrificed," said John Gonsalves, Founder and President of Homes for Our Troops. "Homes for Our Troops is proud to join our building partner Daniel DeVol Custom Builder, Inc., and the community of Fairborn to welcome this brave marine into his new home. We salute each and every volunteer for helping to give back freedom and independence to this very deserving family."
