The Build Brigade begins with a ceremony Friday, August 17 at 8:30 a.m. Following the opening event, the veteran and family members, HFOT representatives, and selected invited guests will work together to raise the home's first wall. The goal of the two-day build is to frame, side, and roof the house and install windows and doors. Interior and finishing work will be completed in the following months. The home will provide Argrave with maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.
Corporal Argrave was on his first deployment when he was left a tetraplegic after suffering major injuries to his spinal column from shrapnel through the neck and a C5 vertebrae fracture during a Rocket Propelled Grenade attack followed by an ambush in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan on May 30, 2010. He looks forward to recovering in a home built to accommodate his needs, providing him with more freedom and independence.
