The Build Brigade begins with a ceremony Friday, June 29 at 8:30 a.m. Following the opening event, volunteers will work together to raise the home's first wall. The goal of the three-day build is to frame, side, and roof the house and install windows and doors. Interior and finishing work will be completed in the following months. The home will provide Granville with maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.
Army SSG Earl Granville was on his third deployment when a roadside bomb left him with severe leg injuries in Zormat, Afghanistan, on June 3, 2008. He looks forward to recovering in a home built to accommodate his needs, providing him with more freedom and independence.
"A specially adapted house will help my family and me by making my day to day living so much easier and will help get more of my independence back," said Granville.
