Homes for Our Troops to Break Ground on Specially Adapted Home in Stella for Severely Injured Veteran
STELLA, N.C., Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Homes for Our Troops (www.homesforourtroops.org), a national non-profit organization dedicated to building specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans, will hold a Groundbreaking Ceremony in Stella on Saturday, October 6, to begin construction of a home for Marine Staff Sergeant Bradley Lang. The public is invited to attend.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., signifying the official start of this project, resulting in a new, specially adapted home designed to accommodate the severe injuries SSgt Lang sustained while serving his country. The home will provide Lang with maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.
Staff Sergeant Lang was on his third deployment when he lost both of his legs above the knees and fractured his pelvis when he stepped on an IED while in Afghanistan. He looks forward to recovering in a home built to accommodate his needs.
"Joining the Marine Corps was about more than ensuring freedom. It was about protecting my son, your children, and the children of the future so that they are kept from making the sacrifices so many others have made…sacrifices of both life and limb," said Lang. "Receiving a home from Homes for Our Troops will not only give me and my family an accessible place to live, it will give me the ability to be independent in my own home and for our family to have security for a lifetime."
