Homeowners And Tenants To Rally In Support Of Intro 730
NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being released by Justice for Homeowners:

WHY: In July the New York City Council passed Intro -730 – The HPD Transparency Act. Last month Mayor Bloomberg vetoed the bill. Today the City Council, under the leadership of Speaker Christine Quinn, will override the veto. Intro 730 is the first step in reforming, and bringing transparency to the way HPD conducts its business. No public agency should operate under a veil of secrecy, least of all an agency charged with spending over $7 billion of taxpayer dollars. As result of the way HPD has awarded contracts, millions of dollars have been misappropriated, workers have been exploited and residents have been left with shoddy, dangerous homes. Thousands of hard working New Yorkers, who trusted HPD and the City when they entered into agreements to buy homes, continue to live in the horrible, dangerous homes, built by HPD and their corrupt contractors. Today they will be on the steps of City Hall to thank the City Council for taking this action and to demand that the Mayor and HPD address this ongoing crisis
