Homeless Families Find New Homes For The Holidays At Rockwood

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning, Los Angeles-Based Architecture Firm, Newman Garrison + Partners redefines multi-family housing with their latest project, Rockwood Apartments. Located in the city of Anaheim, the affordable housing development offers homeless to limited-income families the opportunity for new beginnings with an apartment, workplace education, mental health assistance, and community support.

The architects at Newman Garrison + Partners placed high-value on the importance and integrity of this project by creating a family-orientated community that inspires personal growth, stability, and family union.

The firm envisioned a nostalgic design as an ode to Orange County's yesteryears with it's unique and charming Craftsman-themed architecture that rivals neighboring high-end complexes. The innovative project replaces under-utilized parcels with 3-story stacked flat, garden-style buildings situated around a central courtyard. NG+P designed a wide-range of amenities at Rockwood for all ages including a teaching kitchen, outdoor exercise stations, computer lab, and playground with life-size chessboard

The development consists of 17 one-bedroom, 32 two-bedroom and 21 three-bedroom apartment homes ranging from 727 to 1,202 sf. The project also includes 15 fully furnished MHSA units which provide crucial stability and support for homeless or at-risk homeless families living with mental illness.

Designed to achieve a LEED for Homes Gold rating, Rockwood Apartments is the Beyond L.A."Project of the Year" winner in the annual design award competition sponsored by the Southern California Association of Non Profit Housing (SCANPH).
