HomeGoods to Open First Manhattan Location on Sunday, May 22nd
--Survey results demonstrate that HomeGoods will fill an underserved need for Manhattan residents by offering extraordinary values on distinctive home fashions
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- HomeGoods, the country's only major off-price store dedicated to home fashions, will open its first Manhattan location on the Upper West Side on Sunday, May 22nd at 8:00 a.m. The two-story, 20,000 square foot store is located at 795 Columbus Avenue (99th and Columbus). With the addition of this store, HomeGoods will have three stores in New York City, including Staten Island and its recently opened Flatbush location in Brooklyn.
HomeGoods offers an exciting, ever-changing selection of high-quality home fashions at prices 20% to 60% less than department and specialty store regular prices, every day. HomeGoods provides consumers with extraordinary values on brand name and designer merchandise and unique finds for every room and in countless styles.
HomeGoods to fill underserved need for Manhattan residents
In a recent survey conducted by HomeGoods of more than 1,000 New York City residents, 83% agreed that when it comes to shopping, New Yorkers know where to find great deals. Most of the residents surveyed also agreed that it is much harder to find great deals in the city on home furnishings than it is to find great deals in the city on clothing and accessories (84% agreed), dinner at a great restaurant (81% agreed) or Broadway theatre tickets (71% agreed). Not surprisingly, 60% agreed that New Yorkers have to shop outside the city to find great deals on home furnishings.
"We are excited to bring HomeGoods and our off-price concept to Manhattan," said Richard Sherr, President of HomeGoods. "New Yorkers are some of the savviest shoppers in the country who appreciate great style and value. We know that HomeGoods will be a welcome addition to the area because we offer outstanding prices on high-quality home fashions," adds Sherr.
HomeGoods and Housing Works Twitter partnership
To celebrate the Manhattan store opening, HomeGoods will ask New Yorkers to tweet to raise money for HomeGoods' charitable partner, Housing Works. From Thursday, May 19th through Sunday, May 22nd, HomeGoods will donate $1 to Housing Works, for every tweet sent using #HomeGoodsNY, up to $25,000. In addition, HomeGoods will randomly select one lucky tweeter to receive a HomeGoods gift card in a dollar amount equal to the number of tweets sent using #HomeGoodsNY during the same time period, up to $25,000.
HomeGoods merchandise offerings include furniture, rugs, lamps, kitchen and dining, bedding and bath, kids decor, toys, pet, storage and much more. The stores offer a liberal 30-day return policy, accept all major credit cards and offer gift cards for purchase. HomeGoods will hire store management and associates from the local area and is expected to fill approximately 150 full and part-time positions.
Regular store hours are Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Special grand opening day hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For additional HomeGoods locations, please call 1-800-614-HOME or visit homegoods.com.
