HomeGoods Releases Celebrity Holiday Gifting Survey Results
Survey reveals which celebrities Americans prefer to have over for the holidays - The Obamas or Honey Boo Boo?
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Dec. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With holiday gifting in full-swing, national off-price home fashions retailer and gifting destination, HomeGoods, released today the results of its holiday gifting survey.
The First Family to Open Gifts
Opening gifts is a holiday tradition usually filled with lovable and quirky family members, but it might get a bit more interesting if families inject some Hollywood – or Washington – into the gathering. According to HomeGoods' national survey, the Obamas top the list of famous families Americans would most like to open gifts with this holiday season (40%). That's not all: The British Royal Family (28%), the Kardashian's (14%), the Beckham's (10%), and the "Honey Boo Boo" family (9%) also made the celeb gift-opening wish list.
A Political Holiday Season
However, not everyone is on the same page as to which family they want to unwrap presents with. Older Americans are enchanted by the British Royal Family – 40% of those ages 55+ would most like to open gifts under the tree with them, compared to only 14% of those ages 18-24. Young people are more in tune with the Obamas – 47% ages 18-24 would choose to open gifts with the First Family, while only 37% of those ages 55+ would do the same.
Shopping for Celebs: Dream or Nightmare?
Buying the perfect holiday gift may have some stumped, but imagine having to buy a present for someone who really has everything. According to HomeGoods' survey, 1 in 3 (33%) Americans think shopping for a holiday gift for Oprah Winfrey would be the most challenging, followed by Simon Cowell (28%), Lady Gaga (24%), and Johnny Depp (10%). On the other hand, only 5% cited Taylor Swift as a tricky celeb to buy for.

Quotas have been set to ensure reliable and accurate representation of the U.S. adult population 18 and older. For the interviews conducted in this particular study, the chances are 95 in 100 that a survey result does not vary, plus or minus, by more than 3.1 percentage points from the result that would be obtained if interviews had been conducted with all persons in the universe represented by the sample.
