AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- HomeAway, Inc. (NASDAQ: AWAY), the worldwide leader in online vacation rentals, today announces the opening of its third Austin office, which brings 235 employees from the customer service and sales teams to the Penn Field campus, located at 3601 South Congress.

Founded in Austin seven years ago with a staff of six, HomeAway® has grown to 971 employees worldwide. In Austin, the company has outgrown its Gold-level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified headquarters and its second office space, both located in the Market District area of Fifth St. and Lamar Blvd., in the span of three years after nearly doubling its Austin employee base to 466.
Similar to the existing HomeAway offices, the Penn Field office contains a combination of environmentally friendly features in a creative workspace. The 26,170-square-foot office uses low water consumption landscaping and control sensors that automatically respond to daylight to adjust interior lighting levels and reduce the company's energy consumption.
Like the world headquarters, the new space captures the fun vibe of being on vacation. With a modern, industrial design, the office features a mezzanine overlooking the employee lounge where staff can play shuffleboard, a bistro stocked full of healthy snacks, a three-dimensional beach mural and an AstroTurf art installation.
The new space comes complete with a functioning garage door that comes in handy given that a fully-operational replica of the Griswold's Wagon Queen Family Truckster, featured in both the popular 1980s movie "National Lampoon's Vacation" as well as HomeAway's 2010 Super Bowl commercial, is parked inside the office.
With a nod to HomeAway's past ad campaign, the new space also honors HomeAway's new marketing platform focused on the key message, "Let's Stay Together," by featuring pictures of employees and customers sharing cherished moments in vacation rentals.
Overall, the new HomeAway office embraced its Austin roots and sourced a number of local companies in the development of the Penn Field space. Austin-based companies Red Earth Designs, CTA Architects Engineers, Kent Consulting Engineers, LP, Balfour Beatty Construction, Southwest Strategies Group and Furniture For Business all contributed to HomeAway's expanded footprint in the city.
