LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- HomeAid America, a nonprofit organization that provides housing to organizations helping the homeless throughout the country, is proud to announce that it is working with the producers of the critically-acclaimed new documentary Mighty Ground. The film will play in selected cities across the country and feature musical performances by its subject, Ronald Troy Collins.
Mighty Ground is a new documentary that follows the journey of a gifted singer-songwriter Ronald Troy Collins, a homeless man living on the streets of Skid Row in LA, and the impact he makes on those he encounters. It provides a living example of redemption and how the kindness of strangers can transform people's lives. It world-premiered at the prestigious Los Angeles Film Festival in June and recently won the Audience Award at Calgary International Film Festival.
Intrinsic Value Films', Aimee Schoof and Isen Robbins served as producers on Mighty Ground in association with Corner to Corner Productions; Delila Vallot (Can You Dig This) directed. Intrinsic has produced over 30 feature films (Experimenter, Blue Caprice, American Satan, and The Truth About Lies, releasing nationwide October 27). Mighty Ground puts an honest and very human face on homelessness in this country. As it plays at film festivals across North America, Mighty Ground will hold events with HomeAid chapters around the country to screen the film, followed by live performances by Ronald Troy Collins. This national tour is being sponsored by Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
At press time, HomeAid chapter locations featuring the film include Los Angeles, San Diego, Northern California (Bay Area), Colorado (Denver), Atlanta, Northern Virginia, and Hawaii. The inaugural event was held at the HomeAid Los Angeles Gala on October 12th and after a showing of the Mighty Ground trailer, Collins and frequent musical collaborator The Urban Renewal Project were joined by Brian McKnight Jr. for a special performance. The next event will be October 26th as part of HomeAid San Diego's 15 Anniversary celebration. Next, the HomeAid LA chapter will be showing the entire film at the Central Park Bandshell in Playa Vista on November 3rd, followed by another performance by Collins.

About Mighty Ground
There are more than 57,000 homeless people in Los Angeles; MIGHTY GROUND (www.mightyground.com) is the story of one of them. In the film, Ronald Troy Collins makes his way through the days by singing to people on the streets of downtown Los Angeles. As with most of the homeless, Ronald is nearly invisible to the majority of passers-by. But those who stop to listen find themselves captivated by the depth of his prophetic voice, and by the mystical songs he composes on the spot and directs at the listener's soul.
Enchanted, these listeners find themselves making a deep and unfathomable connection with Ronald that crosses racial and economic lines. This is exactly what happened to producer Aimee Schoof and music supervisor William Dane in January of 2016. What began as a random encounter on a downtown LA street quickly turned into a tale of vitality, heartbreak and ultimately, redemption for all involved.
