Home sites in Village at Grandfather, along with other area properties, sell for $1.1 million in online auction
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Home sites in the Village at Grandfather subdivision near Linville, N.C., along with other subdivision lots and land in the area, sold for a total of more than $1.1 million in an online auction that ended Wednesday.
Nashville's McLemore Auction Company, in cooperation with Atlanta-based Auction Management Corporation, handled the online auction for Mountain Community Bank, a division of Bank of Tennessee.
Forty-six home sites in the Village of Grandfather sold for $706,713, with 66 bidders entering bids. Other properties selling were home sites, residential land and commercial land around Banner Elk, N.C., as well as the Ridge at Roan Mountain Subdivision in Roan Mountain, Tenn.
"There's no question that an online auction was the best way to sell this group of properties. Without the need to bring everyone together at the same time, we were able to attract bidders from all over the eastern United States and even beyond -- even as far away as Alaska," said Will McLemore, president of McLemore Auction, which conducts auctions both live and online. "We achieved a result that satisfied our seller while putting these properties in the hands of builders, developers and individuals who can build on the sites and create beautiful mountain estates."
The properties were sold in five groups, closing at different times through the day Wednesday.
