Home Properties Baltimore Area Communities Recognized for Excellence

OWINGS MILLS, Md., Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Home Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HME) today announced its Baltimore area communities have received multiple awards at the 2013 Star Awards, as presented by the Maryland Multi-Housing Association, Inc. (MMHA).

"Not only were our Baltimore area communities recognized as a whole for their commitment to excellence but we had property managers and employees singled out for individual awards, which is gratifying for our entire team."

Among those communities recognized with awards was Morningside Heights in Owings Mills, Md., which achieved a gold award among garden communities in its division, plus a gold award for Mark Rumsley, Service Technician of the Year, and a silver award for Tammy Solomon, Property Manager of the Year. Bonnie Ridge Apartments in Pikesville, Md., and Owings Run Apartments in Owings Mills, Md., received silver awards in their divisions. Home Properties was also named the overall bronze award winner for Property Management Company of the Year.

Five of Home Properties' Baltimore area communities have been designated as Star-Certified by MMHA, a title given to communities that attain a 90% minimum of required judging criteria for the highest standards of apartment living excellence.

MMHA is a professional, non-profit trade association serving owners and managers of almost 161,000 rental housing homes in over 600 apartment communities that house over 200,000 families in Maryland. Since 1997, the MMHA Star Awards have been presented to members of the Association who exhibit the most outstanding and innovative properties and professionals in the Maryland multi-housing industry. All awards are based on nominations from the membership, judged by a third-party, and distinguished as either gold, silver, or bronze awards.
