Home Energy Management, a Hot Topic for ConnectivityWeek 2011
ConnectivityWeek 2011 explores residential Smart Grid opportunities for utilities, technology companies, entrepreneurs, and investors
DALLAS, May 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The 130 million housing units(1) in the U.S. represent an untapped market for energy management and Smart Grid innovation. The HomeConn track and Consumer Symposium at ConnectivityWeek in Santa Clara, Calif., May 23-26, 2011, will explore the consumer side of the meter, residential Smart Grid opportunities, and consumer attitudes — in more than a dozen expert panel sessions.
"ConnectivityWeek brings together a diverse set of high-tech entrepreneurs, investors, analysts, and utilities, working to find next-generation solutions," said Bill Ablondi, Director Home Systems Research, Parks Associates. "This event covers a wide range of topics from technologies, to consumer attitudes and deployment strategies."
Kicking off the conference on Monday, May 23, the Smart Grid Consumer Symposium — co-hosted by the Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative — will explore consumer issues in an interactive format. HomeConn panel sessions will cover:
- Who Derives Value from Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS): Explores HEMS from the perspective of consumer brands, residential consumers, utilities, and service providers.
- Smart Service Offerings: Covers the experiences of utility, telecommunications, and cable companies as they consider deploying smarter energy services.
- Deploying Now or Later: Discusses the current state of technology solutions, standards, and consumer attitudes to determine when certain actions should be taken.
Additionally, consumer research from EcoAlign's national survey of 1,000+ consumers will be released on Monday, May 23. "This research complements the in-depth and comprehensive consumer-focused Smart Grid content at ConnectivityWeek," said Jamie Wimberly, CEO of Distributed Energy Financial Group, and Founder, EcoAlign. "This will follow the EcoPinion survey released last year, illustrating how far we've moved the bar."
ConnectivityWeek 2011 is host to 200+ industry-leading speakers, who participate in more than 100 sessions attended by 1,000 participants, representing: utilities, policymakers, energy consumers, IT, telecom, venture capital, and media. For more information, visit: www.ConnectivityWeek.com.
