NEW YORK, Dec. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province, the largest province of the world-wide Order of Friars Minor (O.F.M.), today announce the beginning of 90 days of Insta-Inspiration! Starting today, the Franciscan's Brother Finias, a humorous illustrated friar character, will lead followers through "90 Prayers for 90 Days," a daily prayer intention that will be posted each day on the Franciscan Friar's Instagram account.

Each morning, users can log on and follow the Franciscan's Instagram account - instagram.com/thefranciscans - for an "insta-prayer," or daily intention, led by Brother Finias. Users will also be able to catch the prayers via other social networks, like Facebook and Twitter.
"Inspired by Pope Francis and his social media efforts, we are excited to expand our digital presence to offer a new way for people to receive daily prayers from the Franciscans," said Father David Convertino, Executive Director of Development for the Franciscan Friars. "90 Prayers for 90 Days will reach new and old followers alike, and we are excited to provide people a daily intention to lead them into the New Year."
This is not the first time the Franciscans have gone digital. Just last year, the Franciscans accepted prayers through their "Text a Prayer Intention to a Franciscan Friar" program. Users can simply text the word PRAYER to 306-44 and hit send. Senders will then receive a welcome message inviting them to then send in their prayer intentions. Senders will receive a text in reply stating that their prayer has been received and will be prayed for.
