Holy Land Principles Scores Key Win At GE Annual Meeting

OKLAHOMA CITY, April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In its first outing, Holy Land Principles, Inc. secured the key number of votes for its Resolution calling on GE to sign the Holy Land Principles— a corporate code of conduct for American companies doing business in Palestine-Israel.

At today's GE Annual Shareholders Meeting in Oklahoma City, the Holy Land Principles resolution gained, according to the preliminary count announced by GE, 3.1% of the vote. The final count will be confirmed and certified by GE and the SEC within 48 hours.  Gaining 3% is threshold for being allowed to resubmit the Resolution the following year. If a Resolution does not gain at least 3% it cannot be resubmitted for another three years according to SEC rules.

Sean Mc Manus — President of the Capitol Hill-based Holy Land Principles, Inc. and Irish National Caucus— who proposed and spoke on the Resolution said after the meeting: "We are, indeed, very pleased. It demonstrates growing support of this most worthy cause: raising the entire issue of fair employment by all 545 American companies doing business in Palestine- Israel or Israel-Palestine. Remarkably, that had never been done before we launched the Holy Land Principles. It is true an issue had been made about a few companies with military connotations and connections, but all the other companies had been overlooked. Now all those companies are on notice. Whatever Americans think of the Palestine-Israel issue, one thing is for certain: Americans expect American companies to practice fair employment in the Holy Land. And the way for the companies to do that is to sign and implement the Holy Land Principles— just as many of the same companies were eventually convinced to sign the Mac Bride Principles, upon which the Holy Land Principles are based."

The Holy Land Principles only call for fair employment by American companies in Palestine-Israel.
