Holman Boiler Works Recognized for Outstanding Safety Record
DALLAS, Oct. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Dallas-based Holman Boiler Works, Inc. today announced its receipt of the 2013 Texas Mutual Safety Trophy, which recognizes Holman for its outstanding safety record and for demonstrating that safety is a core value in the organization.
Each year, Texas Mutual awards safety trophies to companies who have significantly reduced or eliminated workplace accidents. Holman was selected not only for its "superior safety" effort, but "because employees are exposed to workplace hazards and the (Holman) management team has provided the resources necessary to protect employees," according to Texas Mutual. Holman was one of only 200 companies selected for the safety award from more than 57,000 other policyholders at Texas Mutual.
"For us, the drive toward safety starts with a zero-injury culture. We're doing it for all the right reasons—protecting the employees," said Holman Boiler Works CEO, John Marrinucci. "We want employees to go home at night in as good a condition as when they arrived. By improving safety, we're also improving quality, improving morale, controlling insurance costs and increasing productivity."
In the highly competitive business of boiler service, repair and refurbishment, a bad safety record can negatively affect sales. "We do much of our work at the customers' facilities. They don't want us around if we don't have a good safety record," Marrinucci added.
Holman has three production facilities in Texas: two 100,000 square-foot facilities in Dallas for boiler repair, maintenance and fabrication for replacement boilers, boiler tubes, parts, components and systems including super-heaters and heat exchangers with 100 employees and a 20,000 square-foot facility at 4208 Fidelity St. in Houston, which provides a full range of boiler system maintenance, repair and fabrication support services with 25 employees. A new 24,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Pasadena, Texas, near the intersection of Hwy 146 and Fairmont Parkway, is currently under construction with completion targeted for January 15, 2014. Once the new facility is operational, employment there is expected to grow to 100 or more.
"Your loss experience reflects your commitment to safety," noted Texas Mutual of Holman.
Stated Marrinucci: "Safety will clearly remain our top priority."
