Hollywood Celebs To Turn Out For 7Th Annual 'Polo In The Palisades'
The Promises Foundation Hosts The 7th Annual Polo In The Palisades Fundraiser To Benefit Miriam's House
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Promises Foundation hosts the 7th Annual Polo in the Palisades fundraiser, benefiting Miriam's House, a transitional living home for low-income women and their children. The fundraiser will be held on September 23rd at Will Rogers Historic State Park, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Master of Ceremonies Paul Hughes will lead the laughter during this fun-filled afternoon for the entire family with Live Auction Host Wendy Burch. The Honorary Benefit Committee includes Tim Allen, Darrell Brown, Roger Canevari, Judy Hofflund, Richard Lewis, Elisabeth Rogg, Amanda Shumow, Chris Shumow and John M. Southworth. Guests will enjoy good company, a fabulous lunch, a live auction, and three polo matches.
The Promises Foundation will honor Dave Barge, Kurt Garbe, and Elise Buik for their dedication and service to our community.
Elise Buik will receive the award for Distinguished Community Service. Elise Buik is the president and chief executive officer of United Way of Greater Los Angeles (UWGLA). Under her leadership, UWGLA has launched a strategic 10-year action plan called Creating Pathways Out of Poverty to help tackle poverty in L.A. County.
Kurt Garbe, M.A., will receive the award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Recovery. Kurt has over 25 years of experience in the Mental Health and Chemical Dependency field. He holds a Masters of Arts in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling and has worked as a consultant in the field of recovery for the last 9 years.
Dave Barge will accept the Fifth Annual Bob Timmins Award for Outstanding Service. Dave has served in the recovery community in several different capacities during his 39 years of sobriety. In addition to being on the board of the Promises Foundation, Dave is a founding member and current CEO of the South Bay Roundup convention for Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon.
