LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., July 24, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hollister Incorporated announces its VaPro™ No Touch Intermittent Catheter has received a 2019 Innovative Technology designation from Vizient, Inc., the largest member-driven health care performance improvement company in the country. The designation was based on the recommendations of health care experts serving on a member-led council who interacted with the product shown at the Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange in April. The council determined the technology had the potential to enhance clinical care, patient safety, health care worker safety or improve business operations of health care organizations.
The VaPro intermittent catheter is a flexible tubular device that is inserted through the urethra by male, female and pediatric patients who need to drain urine from the bladder. VaPro catheters feature a combination of protective tip and sleeve that provide 100% No Touch Protection. The protective tip helps shield the sterile catheter during insertion from bacteria located within the first 15 mm of the distal urethra, and helps reduce the risk of carrying bacteria into the urinary tract. The protective sleeve allows for the catheter to be gripped anywhere and is proven to prevent the transmission of pathogens that may cause urinary tract infections (UTIs). With their combination of protective tip and sleeve, VaPro catheters are hygienic by design, facilitating no-touch aseptic intermittent catheterization.
"The VaPro Touch Free Intermittent Catheter's combination of protective tip and sleeve create a 100% No Touch system that is easy to use while protecting patients from germs throughout the entire catheterization process. Our Mission is to make life more rewarding and dignified for the people who use our products and services, and the VaPro catheter helps do just that," said Brian Luedtke, Hollister Incorporated Senior Vice President, The Americas. "We are honored to be recognized with an Innovative Technology designation from Vizient."
"After reviewing feedback on the VaPro No Touch Intermittent Catheter at our Innovative Technology Exchange, our member council agreed this solution deserves the Innovative Technology designation status. Congratulations to Hollister Incorporated on receiving this status," said Debbie Archer, Director of Procurement and Vizient Innovative Technology Program Leader.
Vizient represents a diverse membership that includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers and represents approximately $100 billion in annual purchasing volume. Through its Innovative Technology Program, Vizient works with member-led councils and task forces to review potentially innovative products. If it is determined that a product is innovative, Vizient may award a contract outside of the competitive bid cycle.
