Survey: Americans Reveal Their Own Holiday "Travel Crimes"
SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Dec. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- During the hectic holiday travel season, it's easy to get irritated with the people around you – whether they are holding up long airport lines or fully reclining their seat in the row ahead of you. But have you ever stopped to consider that you may be part of the problem? Nearly 1 in 3 Americans (29%) confess to committing holiday "travel crimes" – including 42% of those under age 35 – according to a new survey by Wakefield Research for Travelocity. Americans' top travel crimes include: hogging the armrest (16%), bringing a carry-on that's too big for the overhead compartment (9%) and getting a little too chatty with their seatmate (8%). What will you be this holiday travel season – naughty or nice?
Give Me a Break
Even when you are on your best holiday behavior, your seatmate might not be. Americans think the most obnoxious thing their seatmate could bring with them on the plane this holiday season is the sniffles (29%), followed by a loud pet (22%) and a desire to have a long get-to-know-you chat (19%).
Long Lines, Naughty Gifts
And sometimes the frustration begins before you even get to your seat. Indeed, 79% of Americans think waiting for hours in a holiday security line is even worse than having TSA pull a "naughty" Christmas present out of their luggage (21%). What's in your suitcase?
Bieber or Not
And suddenly, the seat-recliner in front of you isn't so bad. Justin Bieber (44%) is the celebrity Americans believe would be the worst person to sit next to on a cross-country flight this season. Also on the worst celeb seatmate list: Kim Kardashian (27%) and Perez Hilton (13%). At least you might get an autograph out of it.
