Holiday Office Celebrations Up According To Korn/Ferry Survey Of Global Executives
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite lingering questions about the economic environment, this year's holiday season appears to be a little less frosty for global executives, according to an executive survey by Korn/Ferry International, a premier global provider of talent management solutions.
The survey found that 60 percent of executives polled are planning to attend their organizations' holiday parties. That's up from 55 percent last year and just 51 percent two years ago.
Moreover, enthusiasm for office holiday parties improved from last year, as 56 percent of executives said they look forward to the celebrations, while 38 percent said they attend them when they can. Only 6 percent said they generally do not attend or have little interest. These survey results are up slightly from last year's numbers of 56 percent, 34 percent and 10 percent respectively.
"Today's CEOs are asking more from fewer employees, for less money, resulting in issues around fatigue, morale, alignment and engagement," said Mike Distefano, Korn/Ferry senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "This holiday season, more organizations are taking time out to celebrate, recharge and acknowledge the success achieved by their greatest asset – people."
Holiday office gift-giving plans are also on the upswing. The survey shows that 61 percent of respondents plan to spend $100 or more on all business-related gifts this season, with more than 40 percent of this group expecting to spend $300 or more. Only 25 percent expect to spend $50 or less this season.
Methodology
The Korn/Ferry Institute Executive Quiz survey is based on a global survey of executives registered within the firm's online Executive Center, ekornferry.com. Respondents representing a wide spectrum of industries and functional areas, participated in the most recent Executive Survey in November and December 2012.
