Holiday Island Elks to Start 'Connecting Books With Kids II'

CHICAGO, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With some help from the Elks National Foundation, the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Holiday Island Elks will provide books for local students and create and distribute print materials to encourage low-income families to read with their children. They will also be working with three different organizations to provide books to children at a group home, a food bank, and a medical clinic.

Connecting Books With Kids II will be funded by an Impact Grant awarded to the Holiday Island Elks by the Elks National Foundation. Impact Grants are the newest addition to the Elks National Foundation's Community Investments Program. They are competitive grants designed to help Elks make a difference in their community. This year, Holiday Island Elks Lodge No. 1042 is one of 49 recipients nationwide to receive an Impact Grant. The grants range from $2,500 to $10,000.
