WALTHAM, Mass., June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Holcim (US) Inc. (www.holcim.us), one of the nation's leading manufacturers and suppliers of cement and mineral components today responded in support of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) decision to issue a new proposal of the Portland Cement National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) rule.
"We are encouraged with EPA's decision to issue a new NESHAP proposal," said Bernard Terver, president and chief executive officer of Holcim (US). "In addition to changes made due to further technical analysis, the latest proposal would allow those impacted sufficient time to make the necessary changes to their operations in order to comply with the standards presented in the final rule by extending the compliance deadline to September 2015."
Mr. Terver continued, "We look forward to continuing our dialogue with EPA and will be providing comment on the latest proposal within the comment period specified by EPA in order to support finalizing the rule in a way that benefits all stakeholders."
The original NESHAP proposal had a compliance date of September 2013.
