Holcim (US) Inc. and Its Employees Donate Time and Money to Dundee, MI Fire Department and Monroe County American Red Cross
WALTHAM, Mass., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Dundee, Michigan, home to an administrative office of cement manufacturer Holcim (US) Inc., was on the receiving end of a tornado that ripped through the town on June 6, 2010. The tornado left some neighborhoods untouched and wreaked havoc in others.
Immediately following the tornado, more than 20 Holcim employees volunteered in clean up activities around town. Many spent time at the local high school clearing the sports field of the debris from the bleachers and press box that had been destroyed, others removed tree branches from the local post office, and some helped local residents with the removal of debris from their yards.
"The response to those affected by the recent tornado in Dundee is an example of the generosity, commitment and compassion of Holcim employees," said Bernard Terver, President and Chief Executive Officer of Holcim (US) Inc.
In addition, employees, responding to a local radio station morning show's fund-raising efforts for those individuals affected by the early June tornado, donated the proceeds from their Friday Jeans Day and additional donations of $1,000 were made by employees. A $5,000 corporate donation has been made to the local fire department and another $5,000 corporate donation to the Monroe County American Red Cross.
