Holcim (US) Holly Hill Employees Celebrate Centennial

HOLLY HILL, S.C., May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Holcim (US) Inc. cement plant, Holly Hill, located in Holly Hill, South Carolina is participating in a year-long community service initiative to mark the centennial anniversary of its parent company, Holcim Ltd.  Holcim (US), one of the nation's leading manufacturers and suppliers of cement and mineral components, is celebrating this 100-year anniversary by participating in Together for Communities, an initiative in which Holcim employees lead local volunteer projects.

The Holly Hill facility has planned numerous projects throughout the year focusing on education, the community and infrastructure. Employees are leading projects at two elementary schools including reading to special needs students, hosting career days, and inviting students to learn about science and technology from Holcim (US) experts. Employees are also directing park revitalization projects at Folk and Gilmore Parks in Holly Hill.

Together for Communities builds on the Holcim mission and extends the values that are essential to creating the highest quality products.  Holcim Ltd hopes to engage as many of its 80,000 worldwide employees as possible to volunteer for one day in their community. Because Holcim recognizes employees have unique knowledge of their communities, each project is employee-led and geared toward local needs.
