Teamsters General President Calls on Members to Mobilize for November Vote
CINCINNATI, Oct. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa called on hundreds of Teamsters to get out the vote on Nov. 6 and do their part to protect the middle class during a rally today at a First Student yard in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hoffa urged the crowd to take action and vote for candidates that support working families in Ohio and support Issue 2 – an amendment on the November ballot that creates a set of common sense redistricting rules that require fair representation by both parties while making sure the average citizen's voice is heard.
"We have a clear choice to make in November – we must elect candidates that will fight for the issues that are important to the working, middle-class families in Ohio and across the country," Hoffa said. "Right here in Ohio, Sen. Sherrod Brown has been a leading voice for working families and we must make sure he continues championing our issues by electing him to a second term."
Hoffa also voiced his support for President Barack Obama in his bid for reelection.
"Pres. Obama understands the challenges working men and women face each day and will continue to fight on their behalf," Hoffa said. "He has done his best to lead us out of one of the worst financial crises in our nation's history – restoring the auto industry and bringing thousands of jobs back to Ohio."
Butch Lewis, President of Teamsters Local 100, stressed how important it was to vote for Issue 2 on Nov. 6.
"Career politicians have manipulated the electoral process for generations, protecting their jobs while taking away our ability as Ohio voters to elect candidates that represent our values," Lewis said. "By voting for Issue 2 we can fix this broken redistricting system and take back our voice at the ballot box."
