TransCanada's Keystone-XL pipeline is a shovel-ready, $7 billion project that would carry crude oil from Western Canada oil sands in Hardisty, Alberta, to a delivery terminal near Houston.
"This project will directly create 20,000 good jobs for American workers, and indirectly it will create many more," Hoffa said. "In an ideal world, the United States wouldn't need to import crude oil from oil sands. We'd much rather rely on clean, renewable resources for all our energy needs. But it will be many years before we've ended our dependence on petroleum.
"TransCanada has a solid reputation for its responsible construction practices, and Canada is our largest and most responsible oil supplier. Allowing the project approval process to move forward was the right decision to make."
