OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hobby Lobby, the chain of retail arts and crafts stores, announced its partnership with the world's largest Christmas project of its kind, Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham.
"We are delighted to partner with Operation Christmas Child to help show God's love in a tangible way to children in need around the world," said David Green, founder and chief operating officer of Hobby Lobby. "This initiative will touch countless lives with a Christmas gift and the greatest gift of all—the good news of Jesus Christ."
Through Operation Christmas Child, families, churches and community groups fill shoeboxes with items like toys, school supplies and hygiene items, creating gifts that can make a significant difference in the lives of children around the world. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to more than 135 million children in over 150 countries and territories. In 2016, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect enough shoebox gifts to reach another 12 million children.
"The Green family has faithfully taken a strong stand for Biblical values, and we at Samaritan's Purse are delighted to partner with them again this year for our Operation Christmas Child project," said Franklin Graham, president. "There are a wide variety of great items available at Hobby Lobby stores that are perfect for packing shoebox gifts and showing the love of God to children in need."
Hobby Lobby customers can purchase shoebox-size plastic containers and items to pack in a shoebox gift at all Hobby Lobby stores nationwide Labor Day through Operation Christmas Child's National Collection Week, Nov. 14-21, 2016.
