HM King Hamad of Bahrain Meets with UK Prime Minister David Cameron
MANAMA, Bahrain, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- During a visit that reaffirmed the historic relationship between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa met with David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, today in London.
During the meeting HM King Hamad and Prime Minister Cameron discussed the ongoing reform process in Bahrain, regional developments in the Middle East, and ways to strengthen the relationship between Bahrain and Great Britain.
His Majesty the King stressed Bahrain's commitment to judicial, social and economic reform and noted the steps already taken by the nation in this direction, including; commissioning the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) and the nation's National Dialogue.
Following the release of the BICI report, HM the King established a National Commission to follow up on and implement recommendations from it. The National Commission concluded its first meeting last week. The reforms of the National Dialogue, which was held following the nation's unrest earlier in the year, have already resulted in increased parliamentary powers.
Additionally, the Prime Minister offered the support of the United Kingdom to Bahrain as the country continues the process of reform.
