BROOKLYN, N.Y., June 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second consecutive year, The Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN-TV) is pleased to partner with KIDS FIRST! to offer kids in New York City a week-long day camp geared for kids ages 9 to 15 who are passionate about film.
The KIDS FIRST! Film Critics Boot Camp will be held August 1-5 (beginners) and August 8-12 (advanced) at HITN-TV studio headquarters in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

The KIDS FIRST! Film Critics Boot Camp returns to HITN-TV studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard this August for its second year; offering local youth the opportunity to critique and review films, present their reviews on-camera and interview celebrities. Campers will watch the latest films, write critiques, produce video reviews, learn interview techniques and met actual film critics, producers and actors.

KIDS FIRST! Film Critics Boot Camp is sponsored by and staffed through partnership between KIDS FIRST! and HITN-TV. Camp activities combine learning and fun; with special focus on building confidence, research, film study and on-camera skills. KIDS FIRST! has significant experience working with youth through its national team of kids who regularly interview, review and critique film, television, video and media content geared toward kids. Many kids who graduate from the camp go on to join the KIDS FIRST! national team.
Session 1: August 1 to 5, 2016 (Beginning students) – provides participants with the experiences and skills to view and review films, look critically at different elements of a film from directing to acting; cinematography; writing; and art direction. Students will discuss and debate films live and on-camera, interview talent and more. (One-week fee: $459)
Session 2: August 8 to 12, 2016 (Advanced students) – Students with a filmmaking or performance background will have opportunities to expand their skills in analyzing film, writing critiques, expanding filmmaking techniques, learn more about digital media production and post-production and receive one-on-one coaching. (One-week fee: $459)
Family Media Workshop: Saturday, August 6, 2016 (Students attending Session 1 or 2 and their Parents) – New this year, the Family Media Workshop will provide parents with strategies to encourage and support their child's continued progress as a KIDS FIRST! Film Critics Team Member, learn more about how to use their own equipment and expand their production and post-production skills. (Fee: $49)
Information about full and partial scholarship are available on the KIDS FIRST! website. HITN-TV and local sponsors are providing a limited number of scholarships for children who live in the Brooklyn area. KIDS FIRST! and HITN-TV are seeking applicants for scholarships available to Brooklyn students and encourage parents to apply soon.
