History® and Extreme Music Release Epic Soundtrack to Highly Anticipated Series Vietnam in HD
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Extreme Music, the production music arm of Sony/ATV, and A+E Networks proudly announce the release of the soundtrack to the History channel's Vietnam in HD series. Available now on iTunes, the soundtrack features 24 military-themed tracks used to create the audio backdrop for this epic six hour mini-series highlighting one of this century's most controversial conflicts. Vietnam in HD premieres Tuesday, November 8; Wednesday, November 9 and Thursday, November 10 at 9pm ET/PT.
Coinciding with the premier of Vietnam in HD series on November 8, the Vietnam in HD soundtrack captures the emotions behind the personal accounts depicted in the mini-series. This collection of highly charged emotive themes evokes the experience of a generation with pinpoint clarity and highlights the trials and tribulations unfolding in the revolutionary footage and first-hand accounts chronicling this tumultuous era.
"It's been a once-in-a-lifetime privilege to be involved in this project," said Russell Emanuel, Extreme Music CEO. "This collection contains some of the key tracks used in this amazing, historically significant series."
The soldier's story is in danger of being lost to history and the men who came home from the Vietnam War represent a second silent generation. This intense documentary gives a voice to these men who won every battle in the lost war in Vietnam. Vietnam in HD by HISTORY® follows up History's 2009′s Emmy®-winning miniseries, WWII in HD, and uses the same experimental approach to storytelling with first-person accounts of soldiers, reporters and other personnel.
Through a never-before-seen collection of color footage from Vietnam's front lines, veterans tell their stories and relive their struggles, fears and ultimate courage. The footage was culled from private collections including soldiers' personal cameras, museums, the US government, veterans and news organizations, as well as sources from Vietnam. Spanning the massive initial troop build-up in 1965 to the fall of Saigon a decade later, it has all been restored and converted to HD. War buffs, as well as people who were there, will recognize the voice of these men.
Dexter star Michael C. Hall narrates the project, with the words of more than a dozen war veterans voiced by Edward Burns, Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Zachary Levi, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Dean Cain, Dylan McDermott, and others.
