GRANDVIEW, Mo., March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul has found a new home at 12121-12127 Blue Ridge Boulevard in Grandview, Missouri. Located adjacent to the historical Truman Farms, U‑Haul Moving and Storage at Truman Farms is ready to serve Grandview and the surrounding Kansas City communities.
On 7.69 acres of land sits two buildings: one 59,881 square foot building and one 34,162 square foot building. U-Haul Moving and Storage at Truman Farms occupies 2,000 square feet in the smaller of the two buildings. This facility offers truck and trailer rentals and U-Box moving and self-storage container storage.
U-Haul is sharing the historic Truman Farms strip mall with several other businesses, making it a convenient location for the community. Other nearby businesses include: a U.S. Army recruiting center, Subway, H&R Block, Blue Ridge Family Physicians, Cricket Wireless and Hickerson Construction Company.
This new facility gets its name from Harry S. Truman, the 33rd president of the United States, who lived and worked on his grandparents' farm from 1906 to 1917. The original farmhouse and three barns are still standing next to the Truman Farms strip mall where U-Haul is located.
While there is still work to be done to bring U-Haul Moving and Storage at Truman Farms up to U-Haul Company standards, Marketing Company President Aaron Krueger is excited about bringing U‑Haul services to Grandview.
"We can now offer all of our U-Haul services to the residents in Grandview and surrounding Kansas City communities," stated Krueger. "Being able to offer our U-Box moving and self‑storage containers will add convenience for our customers and significantly reduce time spent driving to pick up truck or trailer rentals."
The acquisition of this vacant building was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
