"For nearly 70 years, AFA has had a longstanding commitment to equality regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. We are grateful for the Senate's fearless action in recognizing that the time has come for every American to be free from job discrimination based on irrational fears. ENDA is a momentous piece of legislation that mirrors what AFA works towards every day," said Veda Shook, AFA International President.
Over the years, AFA has negotiated Flight Attendant contracts that protect LGBTQ members against employment discrimination. Without state and federal protections, these contracts provide legal protections and help ensure LGBTQ workers have a workplace that is free against employment discrimination, harassment and unfair working conditions.
"People who work hard and perform well should not be subject to discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. AFA is proud of our unwavering dedication to equality for all and urges the House of Representatives to pass this bill," added Shook.
