Hispanic Public Relations Association® Announces 28th Annual PRemio Awards & Scholarships Gala Honorees
Univision Communications and Founder of San Diego-Based DIAOLOGO, Headline Honorees
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA), the leading non-profit organization founded to advance the careers of Hispanics in the field of communications, will honor Hispanic industry leaders and recognize the best in Hispanic public relations campaigns at its 28th Annual PRemio Awards and Scholarships Gala to be held Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Cicada in the historic art-deco Oviatt building in Los Angeles. The evening will be hosted by Diana Alvear, "NBC News" correspondent.
This year's Public Relations Professional of the Year honoree is the founder of San Diego-based DIAOLOGO, a public relations and social marketing firm that builds brands with the Hispanic community in the U.S. and Mexico City. Univision Communications will be presented with the Corporation of the Year award for more than 50 years of being at the forefront of creating campaigns that educate and mobilize the U.S. Hispanic community in addition to informing, entertaining and championing Hispanics' needs and interests.
The Journalist of the Year is Pilar Marrero, syndicated columnist, senior writer with La Opinion, political analyst and one of the most active voices in the Spanish-language media world in the U.S. And the Young PR Professional of the Year is Cynthia Cruz of iolo technologies, a 14-year-old, privately-held PC tune-up software company with more than 40 million users and presence in 18,000 stores in 40 countries around the world.
HPRA 2012 Campaign of the Year winners will be announced the evening of the 4th. In addition, HPRA will present $11,000 in scholarships to Hispanic students pursuing a career in Public Relations and related communications fields as a way to foster Hispanic talent. Over the years, HPRA has awarded more than $250,000 to Hispanic students entering the communications field.
