Hispanic National Bar Association Commends President Obama's Appointment of Cecilia Munoz as the Director of the Domestic Policy Council for the White House
WASHINGTON, Jan. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This week President Obama announced the appointment of Cecilia Munoz as Director of the Domestic Policy Council. She is the first Latina to hold this position, which oversees policy development on a wide range of domestic issues, including those most important to the HNBA and its membership.

In January 2009, Ms. Munoz joined the administration as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House and has been the main point of contact for the Hispanic community. Ms. Munoz replaces Melody Barnes as the new Director of the Domestic Policy Council. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Munoz worked for the National Council of La Raza, as Senior Vice President for the Office of Research, Advocacy and Legislation. In this role she led national initiatives in the area of immigration policy and immigration reform, as well as civil rights. In 2000, she was named a MacArthur Fellow for her work on civil rights and immigration.
