ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) is pleased to announce that Paul J. Hirsh has joined the association as Senior Vice President of Industry Development and Strategic Partnerships, where he will drive thought-leadership for the specialty chemical industry and focus on business growth and market building activities in core market segments.
"We are thrilled to have Paul join our team to provide insights and leadership as we continue to reframe our organization," said SOCMA President and CEO Jennifer Abril. "Paul is a 25-year veteran with extensive public policy, business development and trade association experience. We look forward to drawing from his knowledge and expertise as we refocus our programs and implement a segmentation model that will showcase our highly innovative membership and the specialty chemical sector."
"This is a great opportunity for me to be back in the chemical manufacturing industry," said Hirsh. "SOCMA and its members are uniquely positioned within the specialty chemical supply chain, and working together we will grow key market segments, as well as enhance membership return-on-investment."
Hirsh brings more than 15 years of experience in the chemical industry at various trade organizations, including the American Chemistry Council and the National Association of Chemical Distributors. Recently, his focus has been to provide leadership on expanding programs and services offered under the traditional trade association model to include business development.
For the past five years, Hirsh has been Vice President of Membership and Strategic Partnerships at the American Composites Manufacturers Association. During his tenure, he increased member recruitment and retention rates and created a market intelligence program, among other efforts.
In addition to Hirsh, SOCMA also welcomes Jared Rothstein, Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs, and Matthew S. Moedritzer, Manager, Legal and Government Relations.
Rothstein comes to SOCMA from the Kellen Company, where he served in the role of Account Executive for organizations in the Building & Construction space. He led technical and regulatory programs as well as strategic initiatives for a number of trade associations.
Moedritzer is an attorney who works with SOCMA's Government Relations team on policy matters related to environmental, health and safety law in the specialty chemical industry. Previously, he worked in-house for Hach Company, which manufactures and distributes analytical instruments and chemical reagents used to test the quality of water and other liquid solutions.
