Hip Hop Caucus Releases "HOME" a Documentary Film On Communities of Color Disproportionately Affected by Climate Change
Amazon will distribute "HOME" in Follow Up to the Pope's U.S. Visit to Encourage Our Leaders to Take Necessary Climate Action
WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The documentary "HOME" tells the story of a growing grassroots movement led by cultural leaders, musicians, actors, environmental leaders, and community activists called People's Climate Music.
Climate change is a life and death issue for urban communities and the film "HOME" will reach millions of viewers to inspire climate change awareness and action, making the suffering and injustice caused by dirty energy visible. "HOME" is being released exclusively on Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/140885629) today and will be made available on Amazon Instant Video.
"We made this film because we know the pollution linked to climate change is disproportionately concentrated in poor communities and communities of color, contributing to the extremely high rates of asthma, cancer, heart disease and lung diseases," said Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., President & CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus. "Climate change is a social justice and civil and human rights issue, and one we can solve in our generation, for all future generations, if we come together to make real change."
The soundtrack to the film, with the same name "HOME", is available on iTunes at www.itunes.com/HOME and features eleven tracks, including the original production of "Trouble in the Water" by Common and Malik Yusef, and re-makes of Marvin Gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me" by Antonique Smith, Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" by Karmin and Michael Jackson's "Earth Song" by NE-YO & Sonna Rele.
