Hilo Hawaiian Hotel Wins 2011 Hilo Huli Taste of Hilo People's Choice Award

The fundraising event, held on Moku Ola, or Coconut, Island on Sunday, May 1, 2011, is held each year by the Rotary Club of South Hilo to support doctors' residency programs on Hawaii's Big Island.  The hotel's entry was prepared by the property's resident Certified Executive Chef, Piet Wigmans.  Wigmans prepared his "Chef's Big Island Fresh Fish Entree" consisting of sauteed walu on a bed of creamed roasted corn chowder with Waimea beefsteak tomatoes and sauteed hamakua mushrooms.
