Hillsdale College's 18th Annual Everett Oratory Contest Takes Place Tuesday, March 20
Annual event features student discourses on the topic of national security
HILLSDALE, Mich., March 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hillsdale College's annual Everett Oratory contest will be held on Tuesday, March 20 in the Phillips Auditorium. This is the 18th year of the competition, which is jointly hosted by the College's Office of the Provost and the Department of Rhetoric and Public Address. The topic of this year's competition is "National Security and Privacy: Principles for Achieving a Just Balance."
The Everett Oratory competition is endowed through a generous gift from the Saul N. Silbert Charitable Trust. The contest encourages Hillsdale students to develop their public discourse skills. All undergraduates in good standing may compete for cash prizes of $1,000 for third place, $2,000 for second place and $3,000 for first place. Orators will be evaluated by invited judges of standing within the college and greater community. Students competing this year include Shiloh Carozza, Daniel Cody, Ellen Friesen, Taryn Murphy, and Jacob Weaver.
