Hillsdale College Releases 2015 Hostel Schedule
Ten multiday courses provide opportunity for students of all ages to "vacation in the world of ideas" and study economics, history, literature, politics, and religion
HILLSDALE, Mich., March 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Hillsdale College today released the full schedule for its 2015 Hillsdale Hostel sessions, multiday classes that provide students of all ages with an intensive study on a wide range of issues. The first hostel, examining "Winston Churchill and the World Wars," began at the Allan P. Kirby Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship, Hillsdale's campus in Washington, D.C., on March 24.
"Hillsdale Hostels are a fresh reminder of the enduring virtues of Western civilization, free of the trends and ideologies that dominate so many other campuses today," said Peggy Youngs, director of the Hillsdale Hostel and Freedom Forum programs. "We call them 'a vacation in the world of ideas' because they provide an opportunity for students of all ages to re-live college life as they remember it: the sharing of insights, the give-and-take of lively discussions, the camaraderie of peers. Hillsdale Hostels truly are the learning experience of a lifetime."
Now in its 26th year, the Hillsdale Hostel program continues to grow. Seminars are held at three locations — at Hillsdale College's main campus in central Michigan, at the Rockwell Lake Lodge in northern Michigan, and at the College's Kirby Center campus in Washington, D.C. Ranging from four to seven days in length, Hostel programs are built around a series of lectures and discussions led by members of the Hillsdale College faculty.
Hillsdale Hostel sessions give attendees an opportunity for in-depth study of issues including economics, history, literature, politics, and religion. The 2015 schedule includes four new courses examining Winston Churchill and the World Wars, Constitutional Issues and Controversies, Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War, and Economic Theories and Controversies.
