Hillsdale College Names John J. Miller Director of Dow Journalism Program and Faculty Member

HILLSDALE, Mich., Jan. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hillsdale College announced today that John J. Miller, national correspondent for National Review, will join the Hillsdale College faculty this coming Fall as director of the College's Dow Journalism Program.

Born in Detroit, Miller graduated from the University of Michigan in 1992 and joined the staff of National Review—with which he will remain affiliated—in 1998. He writes frequently for the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and Philanthropy, and is the author of several books, including The First Assassin, a historical thriller set during the Civil War.

As director of the Dow Journalism Program, Miller will teach and mentor students, direct student internships, help with student recruitment and graduate placement, and oversee Hillsdale's student newspaper, The Collegian.

Founded in 1844, Hillsdale College has built a national reputation through its maintenance of a classical core curriculum and its refusal to accept federal or state taxpayer subsidies, even indirectly in the form of student grants or loans.
