Hill Physicians Revenue Exceeds Half Billion Mark Again

SAN RAMON, Calif., June 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hill Physicians reported 2015 total revenue of $504 million, down slightly from prior year results of $512 million. This marks another year in which revenue for the Independent Physician Association (IPA) exceeded half a billion dollars. The group reported net income of $6.7 million, down from $13 million in 2014 due to declines in investment income and a planned increase in investments in its technology infrastructure.

The medical group also issued its 2015 annual report, "Convergence: People, Process & Place."  The document broadly outlines its strategic roadmap and notable milestones achieved, including the opening of a new primary care employment model, increased effectiveness of clinical initiatives, and superior quality and cost ratings from third parties.

It's been an eventful few years for Hill Physicians and its management services organization, PriMed Management. Ownership of the management company was re-structured among Hill Physicians, Dignity Health and health plans in late 2014. Co-founder Darry Cardoza retired in April 2015, and new CEO David Joyner undertook a strategic planning initiative that forged stakeholder agreement on an ultimate goal: Become the highest-value, most consumer-centric care delivery option in Northern California.

By the end of 2015, the first Hill Health Inc. practice site was open. Positive results of care coordination efforts for PPO enrollees were reported, and the medical group reported future plans to engage in PPO contracting with its health plans. In early 2016, a second Hill Health practice site opened and progress is reported on other initiatives that will help manage the overall cost of care.
