CHICAGO, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Chris Curtis joins HighTower as Executive Vice President, Finance & Accounting to lead HighTower's financial and accounting activities.
"Our rapid and predictable profitability coupled with a dramatic increase in the market's receptiveness to our business prompted us to broaden our senior leadership team," HighTower CEO Elliot Weissbluth said. "We are in front of a massive secular shift and evolving our executive team with depth and specific experience reflects our continued maturity."
Earlier this year, HighTower increased a revolving credit facility obtained from BMO Harris Bank, PNC Bank and SunTrust Bank from $100 million to $150 million. The financing, secured on HighTower's track record of consistent, increasing profitability, is one driver of the firm's ongoing platform expansion and a testament to its strong and sustainable financial health.
Mr. Curtis will focus exclusively on managing the day-to-day operations of the financial and accounting department. This will enable Robert Pagliuco, HighTower's current Executive Vice President of Accounting and Finance, to assume the new role of Executive Vice President, Corporate Finance, focusing on the financial analysis and due diligence activities related to bringing in new teams. Both positions will report directly to HighTower CFO Larry Koehler, who has been the company's CFO since its inception in 2007.
"Chris' corporate-level experience and accomplished financial services background make him the ideal candidate to fulfill HighTower's needs today and in the future," said Mr. Koehler. "We chose Chris for this role based on his extensive knowledge of the industry, his familiarity with HighTower and his demonstrated expertise in optimizing financial and accounting functions."
Mr. Curtis holds an MBA from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and is a Certified Public Accountant. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Envestnet, where his responsibilities included forecasting and planning, due diligence for potential acquisitions, management of private equity financing processes, and preparation and execution of Envestnet's 2010 initial public offering and subsequent capital raising events.
Envestnet, a provider of integrated platform technology, is one of HighTower's longest-standing investors. The two firms maintain a growing strategic business relationship, including the recent integration of Envestnet | Retirement Solutions (ERS) into HighTower's leading technology platform.
"HighTower has a bold, ambitious vision for the future of financial services, and I am eager to play a role in their ongoing growth," said Mr. Curtis. "I have known Elliot, Larry and the HighTower business for more than seven years and am excited about the opportunity to join their outstanding team."
