HighTower Appoints Matthias Paul Kuhlmey to Head Group Investment Solutions ("GIS")

CHICAGO, Jan. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- HighTower, a national financial services company serving high net worth and institutional clients, announced today that Matthias Paul Kuhlmey, Partner and Managing Director at HighTower, has been named Head of the newly established Group Investment Solutions ("GIS") division. In this role, Mr. Kuhlmey will oversee HighTower's Investment Offerings Committee, the Investment Consulting Committee and the Research Offering Committee.

Group Investment Solutions coordinates three critical capabilities within the firm: First, the HighTower Investment Offering encompasses the various custodial and third-party platforms that HighTower accesses as the industry's only true multi-clearing and multi-custodial platform.  Secondly, the Investment Consulting function delivers asset allocation, product selection and complete investment solutions for HighTower advisors, providing a foundation upon which advisors can tailor solutions for their clients.  Third, the Research Offering group supports HighTower advisors who are portfolio managers, helping them coordinate world-class research from multiple sources and develop points of view for specific portfolio strategies.  This capability is a powerful differentiator, providing objective support to HighTower advisors and enabling them to leverage multiple resources to improve their decision-making-processes.

Mr. Kuhlmey has an extensive background in international banking and working with private clients and families in the U.S. and abroad. At HighTower, his specialization areas include global asset allocation, strategic planning for wealth preservation and generational transfer.

Prior to HighTower, Mr. Kuhlmey worked for UBS's Private Wealth Management Office in New York and oversaw the New York-based Domestic Private Banking Team at Bank Julius Baer. He also worked at Deutsche Bank AG in New York, where he was actively involved in projects leading to the integration of Bankers Trust Co. into Deutsche Bank's U.S.-based operations. He spent considerable time in different functions with Deutsche Bank in Europe, including as a member of the Divisional Board Member team in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Kuhlmey received his degree in Business Law from the University of Applied Sciences in Luneburg, Germany, and a Diploma in Finance and Banking from the Hannover Business School, Germany.
