Twin Cities' law enforcement leaders to release report at local preschool emphasizing Quality of early learning programs, critical to achieving best return on investment
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 14m 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Local law enforcement leaders will visit preschool-age children at New Horizon Academy at Laurel Village on Wednesday to read to children enrolled in the center's early learning program and discuss the value of high-quality early childhood education as a highly effective way to prevent crime. Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek and County Attorney Michael Freeman will release a new report from Fight Crime: Invest in Kids showing that investing in early childhood education can cut crime and dramatically lower prison and other crime-related costs.
The law enforcement leaders will emphasize that programs in Minnesota must be high quality to get the best return on investment. Senior law enforcement officials will call on state and federal policymakers to strengthen the quality of early childhood development programs and to work to ensure that more children have access to these programs as critical steps to reduce crime and save taxpayer dollars over the long term.
