Medical product recalls and hazard alerts have increased tenfold in the last decade. Some recalls have even required the replacement of entire fleets of products or communicating with hundreds of patients to warn them that they may be affected by a recall.
High-impact recalls, ones that affect many areas, are time sensitive and require prompt action that is often based on complex decisions involving multiple stakeholders. Healthcare organizations need to have a process in place for managing these recalls well before they happen so that decisions can be made that most effectively take into account patient safety, quality of care, and cost.
In this 90-minute web conference, presenters will:
- Review the framework necessary to prepare for high-impact recalls
- Examine the problems expected with a widespread recall and how to cope
- Present how to avoid common mistakes in the hazard and recall process
Moderator:
- James P. Keller, Jr, MS, Vice President, Health Technology Evaluation and Safety, ECRI Institute
Presenters:
- Eric Sacks, Director, Healthcare Product Alerts, ECRI Institute
- Lauren Hollenbeck, RHIA, CPHQ, CPHRM, Corporate Risk Manager, Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation
The interactive format of these web conferences provides ample time to interact with the panel through a Q&A session. The web conference format encourages team participation.
