High Honors for Sky Ridge Medical Center's Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Markenson
LONE TREE, Colo., Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sky Ridge Medical Center's Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. David Markenson received the Harriman Award for Distinguished Volunteer Service from the American Red Cross. This award is the highest level of recognition an individual can receive for volunteer services.
American Red Cross Chair Bonnie McElveen-Hunter presented the award to Dr. Markenson during the National Leadership Award Ceremony at the American Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D.C. on October 29, 2014. According to the American Red Cross, Dr. Markenson is an outstanding Red Cross volunteer and leader who has served as the chair of the Scientific Advisory Council since 2005. As chair of the Council, Dr. Markenson leads a team of experts in fields that include medicine, emergency response, nursing and aquatics. The Council ensures all of the content in Red Cross courses adheres to the highest scientific standards, including program research, development and implementation.
A long-time Red Cross volunteer, Dr. Markenson has also served as a chapter board chair, a volunteer Health and Safety director, a Health and Safety instructor, and a lifeguard. Dr. Markenson is a board-certified pediatrician with Fellowship training in both Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Critical Care and is currently the Chief Medical Officer at Sky Ridge Medical Center. His career has been dedicated to improving the approach to pediatric care, disaster medicine, EMS and emergency medicine.
