High Demand at Pittsburgh Area Community Traditions of America at Sewickley Ridge Demonstrates Greater Strength in Active Adult Housing Market
48 Deposits Placed in Only Two Hours for Over 55 Community Overlooking Pittsburgh Hills
PITTSBURGH, June 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A presales event for a new over 55 community in Sewickley, PA, attracted over 110 interested active adults of which 96 secured a new home. In only two hours, Traditions of America at Sewickley Ridge recorded 48 deposits for new homes. Builders attribute the high demand to a combination of product, location and an improving active adult housing market both locally and nationally.
Roughly 110 interested active adults turned out on Sunday afternoon for a chance to select their home to enjoy the resort lifestyle at Traditions of America at Sewickley Ridge. Almost every single one reserved their new home. The first homes are expected to be delivered next summer.
Within a two-hour span on Sunday, 96 active adults secured their new home and 48 homesites were reserved on an oversized map during an exclusive pre-sales event at the nearby Diamond Run Golf Course. The unprecedented demand for Sewickley Ridge, a new homes development just 12 miles outside of Pittsburgh, has been described as an indication of growing strength in the active adult housing market both locally and nationally.
"I'd say it's a combination of positive factors," said David Biddison, Partner with Traditions of America. "You've got the right buyers – baby boomers are turning 65 at a rate of 10,000 a day. It's the right location – Pittsburgh is regularly named one of the nation's best places to retire. And it's the right time – while demand for 50+ housing has picked up nationally, there aren't a lot of active adult projects ready to meet the desires of boomers for an active, low-maintenance lifestyle."
The presales event allowed prospective home buyers to claim their desired homesite. Many of them participated in golf cart tours of the future development on Saturday, June 22nd hosted by Traditions of America's Partners and team of experienced staff members. In just eight fun-filled hours, 128 potential homeowners viewed homesite locations, spoke with members of the Traditions team and experienced the scenic overlook at the future Clubhouse location.
During the exclusive event Sunday, active adults were invited to secure their homesite by placing a sticker on a community site plan of the project located at 610 Duff Road in Sewickley, PA. By the end of the afternoon, 48 homesites were reserved.
Kathy and Rich Jucha, the first to make their selection, were persistent and it paid off. "We have been visiting with the sales team at Liberty Hills in the Cranberry area for 15 months and loved what we saw, but were interested in being slightly closer to the city of Pittsburgh," said the excited pioneers of Sewickley Ridge. "Traditions of America has a very good reputation and it's apparent they stand behind what they say. This is not something we saw anywhere else. We were willing to wait for them to announce the next opportunity. As soon as we caught word of the unbelievable plans for Sewickley Ridge, we were ready to make a commitment, that's how we got to be number one."
The elated couple expressed their excitement around the special pioneer incentives offered to the guests. "Prior to the homesite selection, Nathan (Nathan Jameson, Partner with Traditions of America) discussed pre-construction special incentives including enhanced elevations to beautify our Sewickley Ridge community to ensure it is aligned with the 15143 zip code here in Sewickley. We believe in the Company's words and are confident our community will live up to the projected plan, which appears to be top notch."
Rich and Kathy closed with, "Why should you wait? When you wait, someone is making this decision for you. Move when you have many years to still enjoy it. It's great to get in on the ground floor and we are thrilled for this opportunity."
