"Hidden Cash" Creator Jason Buzi Demands Presidential Candidates Address Refugee Crisis
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Jason Buzi, the man behind the world-famous "Hidden Cash" events, has turned his attention to the growing global refugee crisis and feels the time is now for all U.S. presidential candidates to share with the American public how they would manage this issue.
"This year's presidential campaign has included a lot of talk on U.S. immigration policy. However, I am concerned about the lack of discussion about refugees among the candidates. As the next leader of the free world, I believe it is imperative that the next president have a clear and effective plan to deal with the crisis," said Jason Buzi, Founder of Refugee Nation. "While I welcome an opportunity to meet with each of the candidates to share my plan, which has been covered widely by the media, tonight's presidential debate is the opportune time to start the discussion before a record-breaking number of viewers."
Simply, Buzi wants the candidates to answer the following question:
We all have been seeing on our televisions, in our newspapers and online the historic number of refugees currently seeking a better and safer place to live. Millions of lives are at risk, and many have already died along the way, including three-year-old Aylan Kurdi from Syria. If you were elected President of The United States today, what would your administration do to help solve this crisis?
Buzi's "Refugee Nation" plan calls for the development of a new nation, one in which refugees and their families have an opportunity to live in a safe, free environment that provides everyone an equal opportunity to live a prosperous and meaningful life. Buzi has called on countries throughout the world, as well as successful business people and those with celebrity status, to come together and make this vision a reality. In the next few weeks, he will travel to Washington, DC to meet with members of Congress as well as organizations which focus on international security, refugees, human rights, and children to discuss "Refugee Nation."
Recently, Buzi's movement was highlighted in the Washington Post article, A Silicon Valley mogul wants to solve the global refugee crisis by creating a new country and has since received a lot of media attention. The article includes important insight on the movement from many notable third-party experts including the spokesperson for the U.N. refugee agency.
As the article states, "Buzi had accurately pointed to many problems with the current system: that countries like Kenya, Lebanon or Jordan have become overburdened; that Western nations are not doing enough to help to resettle refugees; that refugees in camps often languish, cut off from society and opportunity; and that NGOs and international bodies are financially beholden to the current system, even if it is failing, and the situation is clearly getting worse."
Additionally, the President of the World Bank publicly declared that this was a proposal worthy of discussion.
