HHA Services Promotes Bowen to President, Streamlines CEO Fayad's Duties to Strengthen Position for Future Growth
ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich., Jan. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- HHA Services, a leading provider of healthcare food and facility management services, and recognized as one of the Top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare, is strengthening its position for future growth by promoting executive vice president Daniel W. Bowen, to company president.
Bowen, 44, a 23-year veteran of HHA Services and son of the company's late founder, assumes full responsibility for the company's field operations, client service and new business development activities.
Paul Fayad, 53, who had served HHA Services in a dual role of president and CEO since 1990 and has been with the company for 30 years, will continue as CEO and will concentrate on strategic quality, process innovation, personnel training and development, finance and administration.

Bowen has served HHA Services as executive vice president since 2000 and was responsible for sales, marketing and planning, as well as portions of customer support. He was heavily involved in the expansion of the company's client portfolio, including the development of the company's Food & Nutrition Division. He joined the company as a management trainee in 1986 and later worked in the field on start-up crews at Hutzel Hospital in Detroit and The University of Detroit. After a stint in Washington D.C., where he served in the White House in the Press Office during the Reagan administration, Bowen rejoined HHA Services in 1988 as regional director of sales – Midwest. He was promoted to vice president of marketing in 1991.
Bowen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. An owner, board member and shareholder of HHA Services, he is a resident of Grosse Pointe, Mich. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Society of Healthcare Engineering and the Association for the Healthcare Environment.
Fayad, who began his career in healthcare facilities and services management working with two Detroit-area hospitals in the 1970s, joined HHA Services in 1981 as a facilities manager. In 1982, he was named director of special projects, where he helped the company expand and diversify its services and directed the redesign of the company's extensive training program. He was promoted to general manager in 1984, and within three years, HHA Services doubled its sales, market share and market territory.
In 1986, Fayad was promoted to vice president, where he helped design the Environcor Housekeeping software program, started the company's Military Healthcare Division and worked on the development of the HHA service facility management program. In 1990 Fayad was named president and CEO and became a joint shareholder and owner.
Under Fayad's leadership, the company instituted a Total Quality Management culture based on the Baldrige Program quality award criteria and has driven superior service quality levels through HHA Service's Q-School – which was formed in 2002 in order to bring all HHA associates up to new customer services levels. Fayad has developed more than 50 training videos and is a national speaker and instructor on customer service, leadership, employee engagement and total quality management. Fayad, a resident of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., earned a bachelor's degree from Wayne State University's Business School and a Master of Science degree in business administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant.
