BROOKFIELD, Wis., April 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Herzing University has received approval to move its Brookfield campus to the Brookfield Square area, providing more space and easier access for Milwaukee-area students who attend the nonprofit school.
The City of Brookfield has approved renovation plans for the 23,000-square-foot building at 15895 West Bluemound Road, and classes will start in September 2019.
"We're thrilled to make this transition because the new space will enhance our students' educational experience," said Herzing-Brookfield Campus President Jarvis Racine. "In addition to upgraded classrooms and common areas, we're also expanding our nursing labs and our physical therapy assisting clinic. This will allow our students to participate in more hands-on learning experiences while accommodating our future growth as we continue to address regional workforce demands."
Herzing is a transfer-friendly university offering year-round study and degree programs in nursing, healthcare, business and information technology. The Brookfield campus is well known for its small class sizes and supportive staff and faculty.
Herzing's plan to put a modern educational facility in the rapidly changing Brookfield Square area has received enthusiastic support from city leaders.
"Herzing is a central part of the Brookfield community, and we are very pleased to have them moving to a more visible and vibrant location," said Brookfield Mayor Steven Ponto. "The university helps drive business growth and adds to the quality of life in this area."
"Moving Herzing to Brookfield Square will help reinvigorate the area," said Daniel Ertl, Director of Community Development at the City of Brookfield. "We believe Herzing University will be additive to the new and exciting lifestyle offerings that Brookfield Square will create in 2019 and 2020," Ertl said.
CBL Properties, which is a real estate investment company headquartered in Chattanooga, Tenn., worked with Herzing to make the move a reality.
"The addition of Herzing University is complementary to the uses that we are adding at Brookfield Square as part of our redevelopment project," said Stacey Keating, spokesperson for CBL Properties and Brookfield Square. "CBL's vision is to transform its properties into suburban town centers, and the addition of educational facilities like this one contributes to bringing that vision to life."
Herzing University provides career-focused programs, flexible schedules and a supportive learning environment to students across the country. The Brookfield campus is currently at 555 S. Executive Dr. For more information, visit the campus during business hours or call 262-457-7624.
